Four patients with Ebola virus have gone missing from a Medicin Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders) clinic in eastern Congo after armed assailants attacked it.
The Ministry of Health, Congo revealed that the four patients are still missing alongside some others who were under observation at the quarantine centre. The Ministrycenterthe disclosure on Thursday, adding that 553 have so far died from the deadly virus following its outbreak in eastern Congo.
According to the Ministry, since August about 84,000 people have been vaccinated against the virus. This is the second time an Ebola treatment centre has been attacked, the first was in December, 2018 when protesters attacked a clinic in Beni, Congo.
However, a search for the missing patients is ongoing to curb further spread of the virus.
