The Federal Government has warned that Nigeria might begin to record many deaths due to coronavirus in the next three weeks, as testing capacity has been enhanced and this would mean more cases to be recorded.

As at today morning, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced the latest toll of the confirmed cases in the country to be 19,808.

The chairman o the Presidential task force on COVID-19, who is also the secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha explained the number of the cases was raising and this may be due to the increased capacity of testing.

The SGF also noted that the country is yet to enter into the second face of the wave of the pandemic.

In his statement, “The figures you see now are a reflection of the testing capacity of the country. We have ramped up testing. From just about two centres, we now have over 30 and so, the results are the figures you see now.

“The outcome of which will be an increase in the number of casualties in the next three weeks, when they’ll start manifesting,” he said.
