COVID-19 Update: Nigeria Records Fresh 626 New Cases, Toll Now 27,110

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has revealed it has confirmed another 626 new cases of the coronavirus in Nigeria pushing the total confirmed cases now to 27,110 in the country.
Unfortunately, thirteen cases of fatalities were also recorded yesterday bringing the total cases of fatalities to 616.

Amongst who lost their life yesterday was the Ondo state Commissioner for Health, Wahab Adegbenro.

Although the number of cases recorded yesterday of 616 were less than what was recorded the previous day of 790 which was the highest recorded in the country.

NCDC in its official tweeter handle tweeted on Thursday night that the new cases were recorded from 20 states.

These state include; Lagos, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Oyo, Edo, Kwara, Abia, Ogun, Ondo, Rivers, Osun, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Enugu, Kaduna, Plateau, Borno, Bauchi, Adamawa, Gombe, and Sokoto States.

Though all the reporting states, none of them was new to the deadly virus.

As at yesterday, 35 states of the federation and the FCT have recorded at least one case of the coronavirus disease.

As only one state, Cross-River state who is yet to officially report an index case of the COVID-19.

Lagos state being the epicenter of the coronavirus in Nigeria has continued to be the lead in the number of daily cases being recorded.

As at last night, the total confirmed cases for the COVID-19 in Nigeria was put at 27.110, 10,801 cases have been discharged while 616 persons have died of the disease.

The health agency yesterday blamed the youth of age bracket between the ages of 20-40 to be the major people spreading the disease, while the octogenarians are the one suffering the brunt said the agency during its daily briefing in Abuja.

The agency said, “We must take responsibility to keep them safe.”
