The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Mohammed, has tested positive for coronavirus. This was made known by an online newspaper, Nigerian Lawyer, at the headquarters of the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN) today in Abuja by Justice of the Supreme Court, Ibrahim Saulawa. The report revealed that the CJN was confirmed in Dubai, the United Arab Emirate where he was said to be receiving medication.
Festus Akande, a media aid to the CJN confirmed that his boss was actually in Dubai receiving medication but has not disclosed the nature of the ailment. The CJN was absent at the inauguration of the 72 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) on Monday.
Justice Mohammed was represented by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, the next most senior justice of the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, in its update last night revealed the total number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria has now moved to 73,374.
