The Coordinator of National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Borno state, Mr Nasiru Mato on Wednesday said 24 bakeries have been sealed in Maiduguri for operating without licenses. Mr. Mato made the disclosure while briefing newsmen in Maiduguri. He explained that the Bakeries were sealed because the operators failed to comply with standard operational guidelines, as well as their failure to renew or obtain the required licenses.

“Some of them are not registered by NAFDAC; they operate with fake label, product name and addresses. We have about 300 bakeries in the state, we embarked on comprehensive campaign to ensure that they comply with our guidelines in order to check circulation of unwholesome products and protect public health,” he added.

He listed some of the sealed bakeries to include Nurul Aini, Nice Bread, D Boss, Save the Nation, Albarka, Ever-Nice and Aljazeera, among others.
