An Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police and Head of the National Central Bureau, INTERPOL, Nigeria, Garba Umar disclosed that the government of the United Kingdom (UK) rejected a request to extradite a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, over alleged corruption during her tenure. Umar made this revelation on Thursday while appearing before the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee assigned to investigate the alleged loss of over $2.4bn in revenue from illegal sale of about 48 million barrels of crude oil in 2015 including crude oil exports from 2014 till date.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Thursday rearrested a former Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Adedibu Ojerinde. This was disclosed by the Commission’s spokesperson, Azuka Ogugua, adding that Ojerinde was rearrested following a warrant of arrest issued by the Federal High Court, Abuja.
NDLEA Uncovers Transborder Cartel, Arrests 5 Members
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) announced on Sunday that it had uncovered a transborder cartel operating in the United Arab Emirates, Togo, Benin Republic, Oman, Thailand, the European continent, and several states in Nigeria. This was made known in a statement by Director, Media, and Advocacy, NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, adding that the operation lasted for weeks and 5 members have been arrested.
