Abacha Loot: US Set To Repatriate Another $23million To Nigerian Govt.

The United States (US) government has signed an agreement with the Nigerian government to repatriate $23million in loot belonging to the former dictator, General Sani Abacha that was stashed in the foreign land. The agreement tagged ‘the Abacha-5’according to the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami was signed today after a series of negotiations with the American government. Malami said the Nigerian government and the US Department of justice have had a series of meetings targeting the recovery of the Nigerian Money stashed by the former dictator all over Europe and America during his reign as the head of state.

Suspect Reveals Why He Is After Yakubu Dogara's Life – Police

The Police have revealed that one of the suspects arrested for conspiring to assassinate former Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara, has given reason for his planned action. According to the suspect who linked Dogara to an incident that occurred to him in the past, he is looking to buy a rifle that he will use to kill Dogara. Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Umar Mamman while giving an account of the events that led to the arrest of the suspect said they received discreet information that one of their police officers was attempting to sell a rifle, when they went after him he confessed that someone in Tafawa Balewa LGA approached him concerning intent to purchase a rifle, that prompted the Police officer to pick rifles from the Police armory. According to Mamman after they interrogated the police officer they got the name of the person who approached him so they went ahead and arrested the suspect.

Iniubong Umoren: Court Sentence Uduak Akpan To Death By Hanging

The Akwa Ibom State High Court on 4th August 2022 sentenced Uduak Frank Akpan to death by hanging for killing Miss Uniubong Umoren, a graduate of Philosophy, at the University of Uyo after luring her in the guise of offering her a job. In A Judgment presided by Judge Bassey Nkanang, the convict was found guilty of rape and murder of Umoren and thereby sentence to be hung on the neck until his last breath. Reacting to the development, the deceased lawyer has expressed that justice has been served, hence the relief upon the family of the deceased.

Court Outlaws Police Parade Of Suspects

The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has banned the parading of suspects by Nigerian police officers, if it must be done, then a court order must be obtained. This ruling was passed by Justice Zainab Abubakar in a suit marked FCH/ABJ/SC/01/2022 and filed by Victor Ojionu against the Inspector-General of Police and Attorney-General of the Federation over the unlawful arrest, handcuffing detention, and pre-trial media parade by a team of IRT police officers on 17th September 2019.

Hanifa Abubakar: Kano Court Sentences Killer Proprietor To Death

The Kano State High Court on Thursday sentenced the proprietor of Nobel Kids Academy and North West Preparatory School, Abdulmalik Tanko, to death for the kidnap and murder of a five-year-old schoolgirl, Hanifa Abubakar. Delivering the judgment, Justice Usman Na'abba sentenced Mr. Tanko, 38, and his accomplice Hashimu Isyaku, 38 to death by hanging for the crime. The convicts were also sentenced to five years each for conspiracy. One other suspect, Fatima Musa, was sentenced to one-year imprisonment for conspiracy and another one year for an attempt to commit a felony.
