Nigerian Journalists have again been cautioned against allowing the political class, traditional institution or spiritual leaders to use their platform or their medium to publish, broadcast or propagate any hate speech. The President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists ( NUJ) Alhaji AbdulWaheed Odusile gave the advice in Ilorin , the Kwara State capital, North Central Nigeria while answering questions from newsmen.

The Nigerian Senate on Thursday said it is probing the recent deadly armed robbery attack on several banks in Offa, Kwara State, which led to the death of nine policemen and several others. The Senate said it has mandated the Senate Committees on Police Affairs and National Security and Intelligence to investigate the matter and report back to the Senate within two weeks.

The Nigerian community in South Africa has again been thrown into mourning, following the latest extra-judicial killing of a Nigerian in that country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the killing of Mr ThankGod Okoro, 30, from Ogbaku in the Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, is the latest in what has been described as recurring pre-meditated murders of young Nigerians in South Africa.

Records show that no fewer than 117 Nigerians have been killed in South Africa since February, 2016.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and other related matters on Thursday said it has rescued 19 women at the Central Business District area of Abuja, who were allegedly being trafficked to Saudi Arabia. The Head of Public Relations, Josiah Emerole made this known in a statement issued to newsmen in Abuja.
