A 7-day ultimatum to fish out the armed bandits that killed 16 people in Numa Kochu village of Akwanga local government area has been given to security agencies in Nasarawa state by Governor Umaru Al-Makura.
Al- Makura gave the order when he visited the injured victims at Akwanga General Hospital on Tuesday and also promised that the government would treat the incident with all the seriousness it deserves. Stressing that, the attack was unwarranted and worrisome owing to the fact that the state has enjoyed relative peace in the last three years. He said “This is something we are going to take seriously.
“We are going to have a Security Council meeting and I have already directed security operatives to ensure that they fish out these people and bring them to book.
“I need to know who the perpetrators of this act are and I have given seven days ultimatum to security agencies to bring the bandits to book because we want to use that as a deterrent to any group of people who have this propensity for killing people unnecessarily.”
He, however, gave a hint that the state government would take care of the medical and funeral bills of the victims as well as send relief materials to the village.
