The crisis rocking the Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday took a different turn as one Mr. Seidu Oshimhole, the younger brother to the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole was attacked by suspected political thugs in Benin.

According to Vanguard, Oshiomhole was attacked along other 14 members-elect while they were reportedly holding a crucial meeting at a location in Benin.

The report said the attack may have been as a result of the fallout of the Monday midnight inauguration of nine members of the new parliament and subsequent election of Frank Okiye as a speaker.

The nine lawmakers discreetly carried out the inauguration and election of the leadership of the Assembly without carrying others along.

It was gathered that the 14 members-elect held the meeting to determine their next line of action before they were attacked by the thugs.

Watchers have maintained that the Assembly crisis may not be unconnected with the ongoing cold war between the governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole and his estranged benefactor and national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
