Social media platforms and the print media were yesterday, 2nd July 2019 awash with news of a Nigerian Senator beating a nursing mother over a fracas at a sex toy shop in FCT, Abuja. Following the video recorded by the Close Circuit Television (CCTV), installed at the shop and made public by Premium Times online newspaper, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the immediate arrest of Senator Elisha Abbo and his Police orderly.

The IGP described the act as an embarrassment to the Police authorities. He stressed that the Police force would do everything within its powers to restore dignity to the force.

According to Police sources, the incident happened on 11th May 2019 at a Sex-Toy shop located in Abuja, where the Senator had gone to make some purchases and in the course, a heated argument ensued with a co-customer who was inhumanely battered by the Senator.

The video which has been circulating on the internet shows the angry Senator beating up the woman who was said to be a nursing mother thereafter, he instructed his Police orderly to take her away.

As a fallout to the said development, public outcry trended on both print and electronic media; from common man to notable personalities across the country, condemning the Senator's cruelty and calling for his immediate arrest and prosecution.
