A Southwest Association, Save Lagos Group, has called on the Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaji Ahmed Tinibu, to within the next 24hrs states his position on the matter bothering on Amotekun, A Southwest Nigerian Security Outfit. The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami had on Tuesday declared the Amotekun an illegal security network where he ordered the Inspector General of the Police to dismantle the group.

However, the Southwest Governors did not seem happy with the development. Thought some major stakeholders in the Southwest have faulted the decision of the AGF, insisting the Amotekun has come to stay.

In the wee hour of today, the convener of the group, Save Lagos Group, Adeniji Suleiman said the group was giving Tinibu only 24hrs to make his position clear on the controversy.

Suleiman demanded that Tinibu, being the advocator of restructuring, should be bold enough to speak on the matter regardless of his presidential ambition as being rumoured.

The leader of the group slammed the threat by the Miyetti Allah group which threatened that supporting Amotekun will spell doom to the actualisation of the Southwest ambition come 2023.

The group added, it was hypocritical of the central government to allow the Hisba police to operate in Kano State while declaring the Amotekun of the Southwest illegal.

Suleiman further kicked that the safety of his kinsmen in the Southwest was more important than the ambition of an individual.

Meanwhile, he commended some personalities like Prof. Wole Soyinka; Afenifere chieftain, Chief Ayo Debanjo and Femi Falana for speaking up against the federal government decision on the Amotekun.
