A presidential panel set up by the President, Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, grilled acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, for six hours at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. 22 allegations were leveled against Maguincluding fraternizing with corrupt persons, diversion of recovered funds, living above his means, and many more.

The panel, which was inaugurated about a week ago, led by a former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami (retd.), had about seven other members including the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Mike Ogbizi.

They interrogated Magu at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The panel also had representatives from the Office of the National Security Adviser, the DSS, and other related agencies.

According to credible sources, Magu's invitation and subsequent interrogation was trigger following a petition by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami

Malami's memo, which was said to contain 22 allegations against the embattled EFCC chairman allegedly accused Magu of diversion of recovered loot including many others allegations.

“quizzed Magu” who has been the acting chairman of the EFCC since when he was first nominated for the job by President Buhari in 2015," said a reliable source.

“This is a serious setback for the administration’s anti-corruption war.

As it is now,
Magu is a loner. “He may be asked to hand over to the most senior officer in the commission while the investigation continued.

I don’t see him surviving this," he added.
