The Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has yesterday blame some of his traditional rulers for aiding insecurity in the state through sabotage of peace effort by his government.
The Governor stated this during a security meeting in the state with his service chiefs, saying that some traditional rulers are not doing what is expected of them to do as the protectors of their domain in the fight against the criminal element.
Consequently, he said that this has thrown the state into chaos as is being experienced now.
During the meeting, some traditional rulers, religious leaders were present at the meeting when the governor made this allegation that some traditional rulers were aiding the outlawed vigilante from their villages which he said was provoking reprisal by the bandits.
In his reaction, the Emir of Anka, Attahiru Ahmad, also blamed the state authority for allowing the civilians to bear arms in the name of self-defense which has contributed to the deterioration of security in most communities.
According to the Governor, security is a collective responsibility and shall not be left to the government alone.
He threatened that if the community leaders were not happy about the dialogue he was proposing with the bandits, he will withdraw from it.
