Alleged Buried Pvcs: We Are Launching Full Investigation – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has reacted to a viral video of alleged Permanent Voters Card, PVCs found buried in drainage. The electoral empire revealed that the alleged buried PVCs were found in a highly placed area in Rivers state. Recall a viral video that went around on social media portraying some number of PVCs alleged to have been buried somewhere at a politician's residence. 


The video was popular on Twitter on Thursday and displayed in some yet-to-be-identified offices. 

An earlier report has it that the PVCs were discovered in Imo state, on the contrary, the electoral body revealed through its information and voter Education Committee chairman, Festus Okoye while speaking on Arise TV disclosed that a preliminary investigation has been set in motion to unravel the mystery around the buried PVCs. 

Okoye said, “The first challenge we had was that when the thing started circulating, it was difficult to locate where it happened. 

“There were speculations that it happened in Imo State while some said it happened in Rivers State. 

He explained that “When we reported the matter to security agencies, the location was zeroed down to Rivers State and we have appealed to those who found the PVCs to tell us the exact location so that we can go to the root of the matter. 

Okoye appealed to those who come in contact with the alleged PVCs to return them to the nearest INEC office so that the commission would commence a full investigation to find out what exactly lead to the incident. 

“We have commenced full investigation into the circumstances that led to those PVCs being there and I’m sure that when we get the additional information and make a breakthrough, the commission will issue a statement on that” Okoye concluded.
