FG Recover $1Bn Looted Funds Since 2015

The Federal Government (FG) announced it has recovered looted funds to the tune of about $1 billion dollars since the commencement of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in May 2015 till date. The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) & Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami made this known to State House Correspondents on Wednesday, shortly after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, Abuja.


According to him, the recovered assets were channeled into various sectors of the economy with the aim of alleviating poverty, and he also stated that over 3,000 convictions have been recorded since 2015.

Malami further said that in a bid to strengthen the country’s anti-corruption fight, the Council has approved a new anti-corruption strategy document.

He also expressed the government’s displeasure with recurring cases of budget padding, adding that necessary measures will be developed in order to address this issue.
