Explosion Rocks Community In Kogi State

Reports have it that there was pandemonium in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi state after unknown miscreants were said to have blown off the administrative offices in the evening of 20th February 2023 where properties worth millions of naira were razed down, it is said that the affected building is close to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office. Although no life was lost. Just a few weeks back there was a similar incident of an explosion, just a few hours before President Muhammadu Buhari visit the state to commission some projects. it was alleged that the detonation was sponsored by the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic West Africa Province (ISWAP).

But some staff of the local government, who pleaded anonymity, said the incident was not the work of any terrorist. They linked it to some people in the treasury department who may want to cover up some shady deals.

When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer in the area, Yakubu Ovanja, could not be reached at the time of filing this report. The Kogi State Government has also not yet reacted to the development, as efforts made by our reporter to get their side of the story proved abortive.
