Two young Nigerians entrepreneurs identified with outstanding achievements, Abdulwaheed Alayande, and Emmanuel Okon have been shortlisted for the 2019 Edition of Anzisha Prize Award. The ultimate finalist of the contest takes home a whopping grand prize of $25,000.
According to a Press release by the African Media Agency (AMA) which was made public on Monday 16th, September 2019 indicate that Anzisha Prize Award has chosen the two young Nigerian entrepreneurs to compete for the award alongside other contestants drawn from various African countries.
It was gathered that Alayande, 21, is the founder of TREP LABS, an enterprise offering a product called REAL DRIP, which is an infusion meter that makes blood transfusion and drip treatment simpler and safer.
His Nigerian co-contestant, Okon, 22, founded Vmedkit — a health company that focuses on alleviating mental illnesses using virtual reality technology.
Also, the statement explained further that, Anzisha Prize Award is an African Leadership Academy and MasterCard Foundation dedicated to identifying, supporting and celebrating young African entrepreneurs between the ages of 15 - 22 on the continent whose ideas, ventures and businesses harness the power to redefine and re-imagine Africa’s growth trajectory.
More so, it explained that after months of searching the African continent, "The Anzisha Prize" has unveiled its top twenty finalists for 2019.
The winner will be announced at the ninth Anzisha Prize Forum on 22nd October 2019 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Of interest to note, is the fact that the twenty shortlisted contestants were selected out of over 500 applicants during the year, 2019.
The Prize award team received more submissions from remote and fragile communities, widening the selection pool for the top 20 contestants.
