The governing board of the National Examinations Council (NECO) has approved the appointment of Mr. Ebikibina John Ogborodi as the Acting Registrar/Chief Executive of NECO. Mr. Ogborodi's appointment is as a result of his predecessor's death, Professor Godswill Obioma on Tuesday 1st June 2021 after battling a brief illness.

This was disclosed by the Director, Human Resource Management, Mr. Mustapha Abdul, which explained that the Acting Registrar was appointed following an emergency meeting by the Council's governing board held on June 2, 2021.

Reports suggest Mr. Ogborodi was appointed as the head of the Council because he is currently the most senior director.

Prior to his appointment as Acting Registrar, Mr. Ogborodi was the Director of Special Duties in the organization.

The Acting Registrar hails from Bayelsa State, joined the ranks of NECO in 1999, and has served in several key positions including Acting Director, Office of the Registrar; Director, General Services; Director, Human Resource Management amongst others.
