Orosonye Report: FG Assured Affected Workers that Their Jobs Are Secured

Following the anxiety that followed the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the implemention of the Orosonye report, the federal government has assured all affected workers that they will not be thrown out into labour market. The Federal Government had on Monday through the Federal Executive Council meeting, FEC adopted to implement the Orosonye report of year 2014 to reduce the cost of governance in Nigeria.

NLC Suspends Nationwide Protest, Issues Fresh Ultimatum To FG

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has suspended its nationwide protests, which were held in different states of the federation earlier on Tuesday. The Labour, in a communiqué at the end of its National Executive Council meeting, said the objectives of the protest were achieved on the first day of the demonstration. The union also extended its earlier 7-days ultimatum by another 7 days which now expires on the 13th day of March 2024 within which the Government is expected to implement all the earlier agreements of the 2nd day of October 2023 and other demands presented in our letter during today’s nationwide protest”.

Scores Of Bandits Reportedly Killed In Zamfara State

A handful of bandits have been reportedly killed during heavy fighting in what was referred to as 'supremacy battle' between rival groups around Hayin Alhaji and Munhaye forest in the Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamfara State. A local, Mohammed Sanda who spoke to journalists about the development said a group of bandits from the neighbouring katsina state had invaded some communities in zamfara with the intention of kidnapping locals. However, a notorious bandit kingpin, Ado Alero, who is an indigene of the area, intervened and tried to prevent the rival group from operating. Sanda added that the two bandit groups engaged in a supremacy battle on Saturday, leading to many casualties from both camps.

Hardship Protest: What We Need Now is Action Not Stories – NLC Urged FG

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has called on the Federal Government that what Nigerians need at this excruciating hardship in the country is a conscious and deliberate action and not mere rhetoric’s. President of the NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, stated this while addressing the leadership of the National Assembly when the lawmakers came to receive the protesting workers who stormed the national legislative complex to register their discontent over hardship currently facing the Nigerian common man. 

Defence Headquarters Vows To Prosecute Purveyors Of Alleged Coup Alert In The Presidential Villa

The Defence Headquarters has disclosed that it will seek legal redress on the recent claim that the Guards Brigade has been put on high alert following unusual movements, leading to suspicion of a coup plot in Nigeria. This is even as it noted that the rumour has the ulterior motive of creating unnecessary tension in the country.
