The organized labour comprised of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and United Labour Congress (ULC) have suspended the planned nationwide strike scheduled to commence about 12 am on Tuesday November 6th.
The president of NLC AyubaWabba made the announcement of the suspension at the end of theclosed-door meeting of the Tripartite Committee on minimum wage around 10 pm.
Mr. Wabba explained that the decision came after an agreement was reached and documents were signed, adding that the agreed amount will be disclosed later in the day.
"Having reached this position and agreements signed, the proposed strike action is hereby suspended," he said.
He, however, declined to reveal the exact figure agreed by the committee stating that the amount will be made public after presentation of the report to President MuhammaduBuhari later in the day at 4:15 pm.
The Chairman of the committee, AmmaPepple, expressed delight that their assignment had been concluded.
"I am happy to report to you that we have concluded our assignment and we will submit our report to the President by 4:15 pm on Tuesday, we will reveal the figure at the presentation," she said.
At the end of the meeting, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, appreciated the members of the committee for their patience and understanding and for also assiduously to reach a conclusion.
