Following the Ethiopian Airline crash on Sunday, the Federal Government has banned the use of Boeing 737 Max 8 planes from the Nigerian airspace. The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika made the disclosure to newsmen after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Sirika assured that no Nigerian airline is currently using that type of aircraft. He also said the ban is with immediate effect, pending the conclusion of the investigation of the Ethiopian flight which claimed 157 lives.
In the light of the recent crash Boeing has grounded all fleets including the US.
Similarly, Airspace in a press release regarding the ten units of Boeing 737 Max 8 planes they ordered, stated that is scheduled to arrive in two years and by then all problems with the aircraft would be sorted out.
