In a bid to tackle insecurity in Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has on Wednesday launched the 2019 National Security Strategy.

The launch took place shortly before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Aso Chamber of the presidential villa in Abuja.

Speaking, President Buhari said the security roadmap document was a product of thorough discussion between all security agencies, and Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the country, noting that the document is imperative in achieving a secured nation.

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj. Gen Babagana Monguno highlighted the improved strategy document which was reviewed from the first edition, published in 2014.

He said, " The focus of today’s strategy is multi-dimensional and it’s to guarantee the safety of human lives.

"The approach is comprehensive and looks at how agencies will collaborate to guarantee security for our country".
