FG Announces July 31st As 5th US Evacuation Date

In a bid to help Nigerians stranded across the world following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Federal Government has on Monday announced that the date for the 5th Evacuation flight of citizens from the U.S has been set for July 31st, 2020.

This was made known in a statement by the Consulate General of Nigeria which Geoffrey Onyeama, the Minister of Foreign Affairs shared on twitter, saying "Notice on the FIFTH Evacuation Flight from the United States of America to Nigeria. #StayHomeSaveLives"

The citizens are set to depart the George Bush International Airport in Houston, Texas on Friday, July 31st on Ethiopian Airlines with flight number ET547 and expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Saturday, August 1, 2020.

The statement partly read, "All prospective evacuees duly registered with any of the three Nigerian missions in the USA can purchase their one-way tickets through www.ethiopianairlines.com. 

The airfare is USD1,500.00 for economy class and USD3,000.00 for business class for adult/child fare including all taxes, with the usual percentage reduction for infants under 2 years."

The evacuees would on departure present a no longer than 14 days old original COVID-19 negative test result, in line with the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

"Evacuees are expected to wear a face mask as a matter of necessity and be in possession of hand sanitizer for intermittent use during the flight, while also adhering to the instructions of the Port Health Service," the statement added.
