The Department of States Services (DSS) has slammed the rumours making rounds on social media that its personnel were seen aiding hoodlums to attack End SARS protesters in Abuja.
The secret police disclosed that none of its personnel was deployed for anything that got to do with the protest and also none has been identified to be involved in the act as alleged.
Dr Peter Afunaya, the Public relation Officer (PRO) of the DSS stated this in a statement yesterday saying, part of the untruth being spewed to the public was that some of its officials attached to certain VIPs aided thugs in this regard.
The PRO described the allegation against the DSS as a lie from the pit of hell designed by mischief makers to tarnish the image of the service as well as pitch the protesters against the office.
In his statement, he said, “The Service is a responsible professional Organization and will endeavour to remain so at all times,”.
He added, “It begs the question to conclude that SUVs and persons dressed in suits and sighted in conflict environments are of the DSS. Fact is that no staff of the DSS will engage in acts as the ones being peddled by these rumour mongers and hate speakers.
According to him, the allegation levelled against the service is untrue and a hoax calculated to tarnish the hard-earned trust the service has already made.
Therefore, he called on the general public to disregard the falsehood emanating from the social media, subversive groups and rumour mongers. The service wants to use the opportunity to call on citizens to eschew bitterness, remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies and the government at large so that there shall be peace in the land.
