Men of the Nigeria Police Force soon get what they have been clamoring for as information has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved salary increment for them. According to a report by Daily post, the salary increment cuts across all ranks of the force. The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, journeyed on Thursday to Ogun State in an effort to boost the morale of police officers after the attack on them during the recent End SARS protest. While addressing officers of the Ogun Police Command, the AIG urged personnel not to feel demoralised the attacks perpetrated on some of them during the protest.
Adamu encouraged them not to be troubled but should continue to carry out on their duties diligently without any fear as a result of the criticisms against them, saying no society survives without the police.
He revealed further that the President Buhari’s administration has taken decisive steps to reform the Nigerian police. He added further that plans have been concluded for the renovation of police barracks across the nation.
“The government has approved an extension of health scheme to retired police personnel. The police salary structure has been reviewed upward, affecting all ranks,” Adamu said.
The State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, while explaining the about seven divisional headquarters were vandalized in the state, and DCO of Atan-Ota division, DSP Ogbeche, lost his life, said the IGP’s visit would re-awaken the dampened morale of the police officers in the state.
Ajogun added that the police in Ogun have since returned to their duty posts, saying it is their duty to protect lives and property.
