Armed Forces Remembrance Day: President Buhari, Osinbajo, Others In Attendance

President Buhari led top government officials and members of the diplomatic corps to honor Nigeria’s fallen heroes during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day held in Abuja on Friday. The event was held at the National Arcade, opposite Eagles Square, Three Arms Zone, Abuja. Also in attendance were Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo; President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammadu and all the security chiefs. The highlight of the event was the traditional laying of wreaths in honor of the nation’s fallen heroes. The event also featured special prayer sessions for living and fallen heroes, gun salutes, a minute of silence for fallen heroes, signing of the anniversary register, etc.

On Thursday, Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, released a document titled “Security checklist, as Nigeria marks Armed Forces Remembrance Day by Presidency”; the document highlighted all the achievements of the military under the present administration.

Adesina said the event provided an opportunity to showcase achievements recorded by the military in tackling security challenges across the nation.
