A former member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Ningi Constituency, Abdulmumuni Ningi, who was kidnapped on Thursday, January, 15 around 8:00 pm within Bauchi metropolis, has regained his freedom. A family member, who spoke to journalists in a telephone interview, confirmed that Ningi had been released and had returned home to his family. He said the victim was released on Wednesday evening and got back home about 11 pm.
It was however unclear whether any ransom was paid and how much as his family members declined to confirm whether any money was paid, saying, “We are only grateful to Allah that our brother is back home hale and healthy.”
Ningi was on that faithful day said to have been trailed by his four abductors, who drove in a gold coloured car with which he was trailed to his house around the Bauchi State Agricultural Development Programme (BSADP) quarters at Isa Yuguda Guest House. The kidnappers were said to have been fully armed with guns when they seized their victim and drove away with him in the car they brought .
The former lawmaker was released by the kidnappers after spending seven days in their hands at an unknown destination.
