Interest Group Set To Launch Smear Campaign Against Buhari – Presidency Raises Alarm

The Nigerian Presidency has raised an alarm that some interest group is planning to launch a smear campaign attack against President Buhari. The Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina made this known today, saying behind the plot was a grant design to tarnish the image of Mr. President.

Adesina further revealed that amongst the allegation as they gather would include allegations painting the president as an ethnic jingoist suppressing a particular region of the country.

In his statement, “There is a compelling reason to alert the nation of another orchestrated smear campaign against President Muhammadu Buhari, using some online newspapers and blogs,”

The Presidential spokesperson hinted that “The campaign, scheduled to be launched anytime soon through editorials and purported special investigative stories, is designed to further exacerbate tension in the land, by portraying the President as pandering to ethnic and other primordial tendencies, contrary to his pledge to belong to all Nigerians.

“Impeccable security findings indicate that those behind the plot have procured online blogs and newspapers, which are to launch coordinated publications, alleging subjugation and suppression of a particular religion and ethnic groups. A specific medium has so far contacted some opinion leaders, especially those very critical of President Buhari, Adesina added.

According to him, the planned publication is targeted to sway its readers into believing that president Buhari is using the power of his office in protecting some particular ethnic group to get away with crimes like kidnapping, banditry, and other related sundry crime as against the other region of the country.

He explained that it was further revealed the publication would refer its readers to one 58-page document purportedly, how atrocities were meted on one ethnic group in the southern part of the country since the year 2017. In this all, it is targeted to portray the president to have turned a blind eye to the predicament of the purported region.

The Presidential spokesman added that also, in the premeditated propaganda, it would be alleged that President Buhari has continued to place his ethnic group member above other Nigerians which he swore to protect in equity. He revealed that the entire allegation would be supported with no iota of truth but cooked propaganda from the pit of hell to serve the interest of some group.
