The Agbajawo Advocacy for Yoruba People’s Rights, a pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group has slammed those agitating for secession from the country. The group made this known through a communiqué yesterday in Ado Ekiti at the end of its monthly meeting, saying those calling for Nigerian break-up are not part of them but trouble makers.

The document was jointly signed by its National President and Director of Media and publicity, Otumba Muyideen Olamoyegun and Oluwasola Ibukun, respectively, frowning at those clamoring for break-up saying it would only complicate issues for them.
Instead, the group has called on all and sundry especially the oduduwa children to unite and forge ahead as one nation with other Nigerians.

The group revealed it was keener about consolidating the long bond of togetherness amongst Nigerian ethnics towards working together for the progress of the Nigerian at large.

The communiqué called on other Nigerians to slam those deviants amongst the Yoruba children that are making this call as they are not speaking for Yoruba or oduduwa children. Noting that there was no time the generality of Yoruba people or leaders came together to discuss anything thing of such.

However, the group said what they are united upon is the restructuring of the country to reflect true federalism instead of disintegration.

The statement partly reads; “To be sincere with ourselves, the current clamoring for secession will not yield any positive result.

“What the country needs to do at this time is to agitate for restructuring, tackle the current rise in crimes, the rise in prices of food commodities, unemployment among youths and the epileptic power supply in the country, among many others.” The statement said.
