Kogi Monarch Kidnapped Abductors Demands 30 Million Ransom

A first-class traditional ruler of Eganyi in Ajaokuta Local Government Area Kogi State, Mohammed Adembe has been kidnapped and by unknown gunmen along Okene-Adogo road, Tuesday evening. The kidnapping, which was one out of many in recent times, occurred barely three days after the kidnap of the Managing Director of AZECO Pharmaceutical company, AbdulAzeez Obajimoh, at Ozuwaya in the Okene area of the state.

Obajimoh’s abduction was attended by gunshots that killed one Habeeb Anda and injured two others before the kidnappers escaped.

It has been reported that the kidnapper has contacted the victim's family demanding a thirty million naira ransom to enable the monarch to regain his freedom.

“His car slowed down at one of the potholes on the road; the gunmen emerged from a nearby bush and started shooting sporadically into the air, thereby forcing him to a stop.

“Other occupants of the vehicle were spared as the gunmen marched only the traditional ruler into the bush,’’ Aya explained.

Confirming the incident, a police spokesman in Kogi, DSP William Aya adding that a special squad has been launched to trail the abductors to make sure the monarch is been released and reunited with his family/community.
