The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern states and Abuja FCT have congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari for his victory as a returned president in the February 23rd presidential election. President Buhari was declared the winner of the Presidential election on Wednesday morning defeating his major challenger Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with over 4million votes.
MMeanwhile, Atiku Abubakar has challenged the outcome of the pool and has declared his intention to approach the court.
The northern CAN chapter in its letter to the president dated 1st March 2019 revealed the re-election of the president for the second term was a clear testimony of Mr. Buhari uprightness and transparency in his style of governance.
The letter signed by Yakubu Pam the CAN Association chairman, the group urged the president to channel more effort in uniting the country and give corruption and insecurity a final blow.
The association called on the president to “run an inclusive government as he has promised under his Next Level charter to unite the diverse Nigerians now, like never before.
The letter partly reads, “Mr. President Sir, the Bible says to whom much is given, much is expected. We wish to appeal that you continue to be a father to all in Nigeria as we look forward to seeing a prosperous nation in the next 4 years of your second term in office,”.
Also, the Jama’tu Nasril Islam (JNI), in a separate letter has also felicitated with Mr. Buhari and all contestants as well as the voters that behaved themselves peacefully during the pool.
The leader of JNI, Muhammad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, made the felicitation in a letter signed by the JNI Secretary-General, Khalid Abubakar, on Sunday in Kaduna.
Mr. Abubakar said, “We are grateful to Allah for the peaceful and successful conduct of the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly Elections as well as the subsequent declaration of the winner.
“However, call on all the political contenders to, in the name of Allah, take it easy and sheath their swords as in every contest there will always be a winner and a loser.
The group added, “Peace must be embraced by all as Nigeria as the country clearly needs peace for its growth and development and bearing in mind that the Governorship and States Assembly elections are coming up on Saturday.
