The Federal Government (FG) has declared Monday, 10th October 2022 as a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-il-Maulud celebration in memory of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). This was made known in a statement issued on behalf of the FG by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, and signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, congratulating Muslims both at home and abroad for participating in this year’s occasion.
The statement urged, “all Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance, and perseverance which are deep spiritual virtues that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) exemplified, adding that doing so would ensure peace, security, and harmony in the country.
“As the indisputable leader of our race, we must demonstrate responsible leadership in Africa”.
According to the statement, Nigerians are advised to be security conscious and report any suspicious individual(s) or activities to the nearest security agency and/or via the N-Alert application on Android and IOS, adding “when you see something, do N-Alert, as this would elicit prompt response from security agents”.
The Minister also enjoined all Nigerians regardless of faith, ideology, ethnicity, and social class to support President Muhammadu Buhari's led-Administration to construct a developed and prosperous nation that citizens would be proud of.
