Protesters and members of the ‘I support #NottooYoungtoRun’ movement on Tuesday morning blocked the main gate of the National Assembly as security operative refused them entry into the complex.


The group is seeking a constitutional backing for young Nigerians to be able to vie for elective positions in the country.

Section 65, 106, 131 and 177 of the 1999 constitution Of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria (amended) prescribed qualification into the office of President to 40 years and above, office of governors and senate, 35 years and above as well as House of Representatives and state Houses of Assembly to 25 years and above.

Senator, Representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye and other lawmakers addressed the protesters assuring that the National Assembly is already taking steps to address the matter.
