President Tinubu Signs 2024 Budget Into Law

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday signed the N28.78 trillion 2024 Budget into law at the State House, Abuja. The president, who arrived at his office from the airport at exactly 2 pm, headed straight for the brief budget signing ceremony, surrounded by senior government officials. Speaking at the signing of the bill, Tinubu expressed joy with the N100bn approved for school feeding nationwide. He stated that the provision would serve as a stimulant to encourage school attendance and reduce the problem of out-of-school children. “One of the priority areas of the bill we just passed is the N100 billion provision for feeding school children. I believe that is a stimulant that will encourage enrollment and address malnutrition among school children. “I will be meeting with local governments at sub-national levels so that we can collaborate and jointly implement an all-inclusive programme,” he said. Other priority areas include defence and internal security, job creation, macroeconomic stability, improved investment environment, human capital development, poverty reduction, and social security.

Former Labour Minister, Lalong, Sworn In As Member Of 10Th Senate

Former Minister of Labour Employment and Productivity, Simon Lalong, has been sworn in as a member of the 10th Senate. Lalong was sworn in on Wednesday at a session presided over by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

Kogi Election: Police Deploy 40,000 personnel

The Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG in charge of the Kogi governorship election, Ahmed Habu Sani, has said that they have deployed enough security men to man each of the 3,508 polling units and 239 wards in the 21 local government areas of Kogi state. This he said is to match the threat level in the state. According to Sani about 40,000 officers have been deployed to douse fears of possible violence and disruptions during the exercise. Speaking during the press conference on Thursday, held at the headquarters of Kogi state police Command in Lokoja, Sani warned individuals or groups of people who have the intention of causing mayhem before, during and after the forthcoming election to rethink or face the full wrath of the law.

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday sacked the heads of some government agencies under the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation. The President thereafter approved the appointment of eight new Chief Executive Officers of the affected Parastatals and Agencies, with immediate effect. They include the National Orientation Agency (NOA), the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Voice of Nigeria (VON), Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCN), News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and the Nigerian Press Council (NPC).

President Tinubu To Present 2024 Budget Wednesday

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Wednesday present the 2024 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly. The Secretary of the Research and Information Department of the National Assembly, Ali Barde, disclosed this to the press on Monday. The Appropriation Bill will contain budget proposals for the 2024 fiscal year.

Appeal Court Nullifies Victory Of Senate Minority Leader 

The court of appeal in Abuja has nullified the election of Simon Mwadkwon, Senator representing Plateau north Senatorial district in the national assembly. This was as the appeal court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to conduct a fresh election within 90 days. In a unanimous judgement, the three-member panel led by Justice Dauda Williams held that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) did not validly nominate Mwadkwon who presently is the Senate minority leader. The panel held that it is their view that court orders were not fully complied with by the PDP as 12 Local Government Areas (LGAs) did not participate in the congress.

Monthly 600m Naira Security Votes Used For Osun State Development-Adeleke

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke disclosed on Thursday that he sacrifices his monthly 600 million Naira to develop Osun State. The governor made this disclosure during his First Interactive Session, adding that the money was channeled to fund projects in the state instead of using it for his personal benefit.
