The official spokesman of President Muhammadu Buhari's 2019 presidential campaign organization, Festus Keyamo (SAN) may have commenced operation in earnest with his first task being the retirement of former President Olusegun Obasanjo from politics. In a fresh attack on the former leader, Keyamo said Obasanjo has been desperate in seeking ways to deflect attention away from criticism of his failure to declare June 12 Democracy Day throughout his eight years in power.
Dailypost had quoted Keyamo's tweet as saying that Obasanjo was no longer relevant in determining the emergence of the nation's leader, stressing that ordinary Nigerians have now taken their fate in their own hands.
“Gone are the days when some military Generals will just sit down in a room and decide who would be the next President of Nigeria. There’s no political Mecca in any Hilltop Mansion or Farm again. They cannot still deal with that fact. The political Mecca is now on the streets of Nig”
The series of attack came after Obansanjo raised alarm that President Buhari was covertly planning to arrest and detain him because of his unfavourable disposition toward his administration.
Keyamo said Obasanjo was merely attempting to distract people from the political point Buhari had scored after awarding GCFR to Abiola and declaring June 12 as Nigeria's Democracy Day, taking the shine away from Obasanjo who failed to do so.
