Members of Boko Haram Sect on Wednesday sacked two military formations located at Katarko village, destroying several military hardware including Armoured Personnel Carrier, Dailypost reports. The Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Sunmonu Abdulmaliki who reportedly confirmed the incident said the incident took place around 5:15 pm on Wednesday. 

 

“Yesterday, I received a distress call from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Gujba last night that there was an attack in Katarko; that suspected insurgents came with eight Hilux look-alike vehicles and about 14 motorcycles”.
He, however, said information on human casualties had not been confirmed.


“Human casualties have not come on, for now, however, I am aware that the military are mopping up”


Meanwhile, the report said the attack which threw resident of the area into apprehension, grounded all economic and social activities.


When Vigil360 contacted Military authorities, they confirmed the incident but added that operatives of Operation Lafiya Dole foiled an attempt to attack a formation in Katarko, Guba Local Government Area of Yobe State. He further explained "that some members of the terrorist group escaped into nearby bushes and efforts are on by the troops to get the fleeing members of the group,” were ongoing.
