The Academic staff union of Polytechnic (ASUP) has officially suspended their two months industrial action; the leadership directed its members to resume duty with immediate effect. The suspension of the strike was confirmed by, Usman Dutse, the National President of the union through phone interview, according to Premium Time.
The union whom embarked on the strike action since December, 12 over failure of the Federal government to implement agreement reached with the union in 2017.
ASUP went on strike in November, 2017. However when it reached an agreement with the federal government to implement the recommendation of the 2014 NEEDS assessment, the strike was suspended 15days later.
The agreement majorly stressed on increased funding of the polytechnic.
