The Peoples Democratic Party has elected Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South) as the Minority Leader of the Senate.

Abaribe was elected at a crucial meeting which took place on Thursday at the Maitama residence of the National Chairman, Uche Secondus.

While the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, Phillip Aduda, retained his position as the Minority Whip, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha from Taraba South was returned as Deputy Minority Leader.

The party is expected to formally notify the leadership of the Senate later today on the decision taken so far.

Although no communiqué was issued at the end of the meeting, sources at the meeting confirmed the development to our correspondent.
