INEC Fixes November 16th For Dino, Smart Re-Election

Following the disqualification of Senator Dino Melaye by the Appeal Court, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has on 21st October 2019 released the date for the fresh Kogi West Senatorial election.

 

The election involves Senator Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The electoral empire in a statement signed by Festus Okoye, Head of Information and Voter Education Committee, indicated that the senatorial election would hold simultaneously with the Kogi Governorship election on 16 November 2019.

He disclosed that another by-election for the Sabuwa State Constituency in Katsina State had been slated for 30th November 2019.

Okoye added that the Commission would issue the Notice of Election on Oct. 23rd, while the conduct of party primaries would take place between Oct. 24th and Nov. 6th. The umpire informed that the last day for the submission of personal particulars of candidates (Form CF001), and the list of candidates (Form CFOO2), is Nov. 8th, while the submission of names and addresses of polling agents is Nov. 15th, as campaigns will end on 28th November 2019.
