The House of Representative is proposing to separate the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation to become entirely different from that of the Minister of Justice. The House of Reps were worried that the continuation of the office being together will always attract political interference in the functioning of the Attorney-General.

A bill which has passed the second reading sponsored by, Tahir Monguno (APC Borno) will seek the separation of the two office from one another will make the house to alter the 1999 constitution as amended.


Meanwhile, the bill has been referred to the Special Ad-hoc Committee on the review of the constitution to make wide consultation and report back to the house.
