The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has disclosed that there won’t be any government in Bayelsa state tomorrow Friday, because there is no qualified candidate to be sworn in as the new governor of the state.
Oshiomhole disclosed this while addressing journalist in Abuja in reaction to the Apex Court ruling which ordered the revocation of certificate of return earlier issued to, David Lyon of the APC who was returned governor-elect of Bayelsa state and was set for swearing-in tomorrow.
The APC chairman said; “From tomorrow, there will be no government in Bayelsa state because based on the court judgement, the next winner does not even have one-quarter of the votes in two-thirds of the local governments, therefore, based on the constitution, no one can be sworn-in as governor of Bayelsa state tomorrow.
According to Mr Oshiomhole, as a political party, they respect the rule of law and its judgement and that why they are putting heads together with their legal team to explore all possible ways to ensure Bayelsans mandate is protected.
He called on all and sundry across the length and breadth of the country to remain calm while the law takes its course.
Vigil360 earlier today reported that the Supreme Court had sacked David Lyon of the APC while ordering the PDP candidate Oloibiri to be sworn in as the new governor.
