Breaking: Former Minister ‘Mama Taraba’ Is Dead

A former Nigerian Minister Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan, popularly known as Mama Taraba is dead. Her associates confirmed that the 61-year-old politician died on Friday in Cairo, the Egyptian capital. Al-Hassan served as Women Affairs Minister under President Muhammadu Buhari's government. Al-Hassan is a former Minister of Women Affairs and a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from Taraba North Senatorial District.

She was also the All Progressives Congress’ Governorship Candidate for Taraba State in the 2015 general elections.

Al-Hassan contested for the same seat on the platform of the United Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections after resigning as a minister in the regime of President Buhari on July 27, 2018.

She is a sturdy supporter of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar. She defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) months after the poll 2019 general elections.
