The Federal High Court, Abuja, has fixed September 11 to deliver judgment in the suit filed by Sen. Dino Melaye (APC- Kogi), challenging his planned recall by some voters in his constituency. Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, the vacation judge has fixed the September date after listening and adopting arguments from all parties involved in the suit.
In a suit labeled FHC/ABJ/601/2017, filed by the embattled senator challenging his recall process initiated by INEC after duly receiving the required signatures from his constituents.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had commenced the process to recall Melaye, but the senator went to court, seeking stoppage of the process.
The senator challenged his recall, on the ground that the signatures of some of the voters in the petition for his recall were fictitious.
Justice Dimgba adjourned the matter until Sept. 11 for judgment, after hearing and adopting arguments from counsels of the parties to the case.
