Former State Governor of Kano state and the Senator representing Kano Central Senatorial District, Rabiu Kwankwaso has denied media reports that he has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The Senator made the clarification on Tuesday in a statement issued by his Personal Assistant, Nafiu Umar Dankura.

According to him, "I want to categorically dispel the rumour and fake news that is circulating in some online media and radio stations that distinguished Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has defected to the PDP. This is not true as we all know he played a key role in the formation of the APC and he is still one of the strong pillars of the party.”

Some media organizations had reported on Monday that Sen. Kwankwaso dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the PDP. Some of the reports claimed that the move was to enable him to actualize his presidential ambition while others cited irreconcilable differences with the Governor of Kano state.
