Primary Elections: PDP Reschedules Dates

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has rescheduled the proposed dates for the party’s primary elections. This was disclosed on Monday by the party in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which stated that the party’s schedule of activities was adjusted due to “unforeseen circumstances”.


According to the letter, primaries to elect State House of Assembly candidates are now scheduled for Saturday, 21 May 2022.

House of Representatives primaries have been rescheduled to hold on Sunday 22 May while Senate would hold the following day Monday 23 May, but the letter, however, stated that the Senate primaries for the South East region would hold on Tuesday 24 May due to the Monday sit-at-home currently been observed in the region.

Primaries for gubernatorial are slated for Wednesday, May 25 and presidential primaries would hold on Friday, 27 May, and Saturday, 28 May 2022.
