Presidential flag-bearer for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has announced the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate for the upcoming 2023 general elections. Atiku made the announcement on Thursday at a meeting attended by party executives at the PDP headquarters in Abuja.
According to reports, a committee was set up by the party to pick a suitable running mate and three nominees were submitted to Atiku to select from.
Speaking at the announcement event, Atiku stated that making a choice between the three nominees was a difficult decision, adding that he chose a candidate who has presidential qualities and can also compliment him as president.
In a tweet from Atiku’s official Twitter handle, he wrote “I am delighted to announce Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as my Vice Presidential candidate. I look forward to traveling our great country together, engaging with all Nigerians, and building a shared future of peace, unity, and prosperity for all. As One We Can Get It Done”.
