The presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Other governors including those of Ondo, Ogun, Jigawa, Kebbi and so on were among those present during the inauguration of Biodun Oyebanji as the new Governor of Ekiti state and Monisade Afuye, as Deputy Governor. Ondo Governor Rotimi Akeredolu; his Osun counterpart Gboyega Oyetola; ex-Ekiti Governor, Ayodele Fayose and other dignitaries have arrived the Ekiti Parapo Pavillion, the venue for inauguration of the Ekiti Governor-elect, Biodun Oyebanji. Oyebanji with his deputy, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye would be sworn into office by Ekiti Chief Judge Justice, Oyewole Adeyeye.
Other dignitaries include the Minister of Trade Industry and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo; the outgoing Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, Ekiti Speaker Funminiyi Afuye and former Chief of Defence Staff, Gabriel Olonsakin.
Other are former Chief of Army Staff, Azubike Iherijika; the Special Adviser to President Muhammad Buhari on Political Matters Senator Babafemi Ojudu; Osun Deputy Governor Adegboyega Alabi who represented Oyetola; Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Alabi among other dignitaries in attendance.
While taking the oath of office, both Oyebanji and Afuye, respectively, promised to defend the constitution of Nigeria, to abide by the code of conduct contained in the constitution, and also will devote themselves to the service of the good people of Ekiti state.
The tenure of Oyebanji’s predecessor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi lapsed 12 midnight after the expiration of his tenure, paving way for the new helsman to take over reign of power for the next four years.
Oyebanji is former Secretary to the State Government and candidate of the APC. He emerged victorious in the June 18 governorship poll.
