The Federal Government (FG) has appointed Christy Uba as the Acting Director-General (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) following the removal of her predecessor, Brigadier General Muhammad Fadah by President Muhammadu Buhari. This was made known on Tuesday by the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa in a statement titled, ‘Mrs. Uba to oversee NYSC pending the appointment of substantive Director-General’.

The statement reads in part, “Mrs. Uba will serve in the capacity of an Overseer, pending the appointment of a substantive Director General by Mr. President”.

She was Director, Information and Communications Technology prior to her appointment as Acting DG.

Uba makes history as the first female to be appointed head of the Corps since the organization’s inception about 50 years ago.
