The Court of Appeal sitting in Kano State has sacked Mohammed Abacha as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. The court set aside the judgment of a High Court that recognized Abacha as the party’s governorship candidate in the state and ordered that Sadiq Wali, remained the state’s valid governorship candidate.

The Appellate court 3-man panel led by the presiding judge, Justice Usman Musale stated that Abacha, who didn’t participate in the primary election that produced Wali had no locus standi to challenge the primary.

Recall that the party had been engulfed in a leadership crisis in the state which saw the emergence of 2 parallel gubernatorial candidates; Abacha and Wali.

More details later.
